Community & Free Fridge
Carrabassett Valley Public Library & Community Center
This garden is planted and tended by volunteers. Please do not pick from the garden beds — volunteers harvest and stock the produce for you. Everything ready to share goes into the refrigerator, and the fridge is free to everyone: take what you need, and leave food if you have extra.

Daily temperature check
Help keep shared food safe: once a day, check the thermometer, glance at the food, and log it. Scan the code, or tap the button.
LOG THE TEMPERATURESHELF-STABLE FOOD: leave non-refrigerated items on the cubby tops in the lobby only — please don't set food anywhere else in the building.
✓ Please DO leave
- ●Fresh produce from your own garden
- ●Sealed, unopened packaged food
- ●Store-bought dairy and eggs, still in date
- ●Rice, beans, pasta, canned goods
- ●Anything labeled with what it is and the date
✕ Please DON'T leave
- ●Raw meat, poultry, fish, or shellfish
- ●Home-canned or home-jarred food
- ●Opened, half-eaten, or unlabeled containers
- ●Expired, moldy, or spoiled items
- ●Alcohol, supplements, or medication
How to keep it good for everyone
- 1.Close the door firmly. The fridge should stay at or below 40°F.
- 2.Label what you leave: what it is and the date you left it.
- 3.Put new items behind older ones so the older food gets taken first.
- 4.If something looks or smells off, throw it out — don't leave it for the next person.
- 5.Wipe up spills. Cleaning supplies are inside the library during open hours.
